LONDON – When Barack Obama and Shinzo Abe—the leaders of the world’s first- and third-largest economies—meet in Washington next week, the economic stakes will be high. On their agenda will be the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP); a proposed international trade treaty between 12 Pacific Rim nations that has been under negotiation for the last decade. Abe’s visit signals that “we are finally nearing the endgame of discussions on the TPP,” explains Oxford Economics’ Jonathan Buss in a new podcast.
