New Aussie Designed Coffee Cup That's Reusable and Pays with a Tap

A new Aussie coffee cup eliminates two problems with your daily coffee run: wasting all those paper (or heaven forbid, Styrofoam) cups and a sluggish line to the cashier. Frank green, a Melbourne-based company, has designed a reusable coffee cup (that doesn’t spill) and lets you pay with a tap -- a tap with the cap of the cup. A number of startups have tackled one problem, either the environmental damage or cashless pay. This one aspires to target both. SmartCup is not the company’s first product. Established in 2011 by Benjamin Young, a local entrepreneur, the design-centered company produced a water bottle with a coconut-husk filter. Of course, it had all the other perks: BPA-free, transportable, reusable. It’s sold in over 300 countries today and manufactured completely in Australia. In fact, Young focuses on keeping the design and production process completely within the country to push for local jobs.
