Eight years after the launch of the iPhone, mobile app evolution continues at a fast and furious pace, with new types of apps being released every day. With so many different animals in the app jungle, sometimes it's hard to make sense of it all. I thought it would be useful to examine a few major categories or “species” of apps: M-Commerce, Enterprise, Niche, IoT, and Branded apps.
